The motif
A mature stag has settled down, the forelegs stretched far forward, the head turned attentively to the side. The powerful antlers reach out wide, every tine modelled individually, the coat chased in thousands of fine strokes.

Craftsmanship and casting
Body and antlers are made separately and joined after casting, then dressed and chased across the whole surface. The warm brown patina is built up in layers and taken back on the heights so that the coat texture works in the light. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
The reclining stag is the calm counterpart to a striding animal and works at the edge of a lawn, under old trees or in a wide hall. It can be paired with the mirrored piece TBA-285.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
