The motif
Two pheasants stand on flat oval plates, the long tail feathers stretched far back. One looks to the left, the other to the right, so that they can be set facing each other as a pair. Plumage in copper red, ochre and blue, the plates with a gilt edge.

Craftsmanship and painting
Every plumage is painted by hand, the feather drawing laid in row by row with a fine brush. The plates are solid enough to hold paper, the edges are gilded. The piece is made of slip-cast porcelain which gains its hardness and gloss in the firing. Painting and gilding are applied by hand after the firing and fired a second time.

Placement and effect
The pair lies on the desk, on a stack of paper or on a bookshelf. Because both are flat, they can also serve as book supports on a shelf.

Material and care
Porcelain is colourfast and does not age, a soft dry cloth is all it takes. Hand-painted areas and gilding must not go into the dishwasher. Because every piece is painted by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and brushwork are part of the process and are not a defect.
